Infrastructure and technology are only part of the broadband equation. Qualifying South Carolina households can access a federal program to lower monthly service costs. Any South Carolina household can explore internet service providers.

Making broadband more affordable.

Qualifying households can receive a credit to help reduce their monthly internet service cost through the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).


How to Apply


Eligibility & Details

A household is eligible for ACP if any of the following apply:

  • Household income at or below 200% of Federal Poverty Level

– OR –

  • A member of the household participates in one of the following programs:

    • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)

    • Lifeline

    • Medicaid

    • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

    • Supplemental Nutritional Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC)

    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

    • Free and reduced-price school breakfast or lunch program or is enrolled at a school or school district that offers the Community Eligibility Provision

    • Received a Federal Pell Grant during this calendar year

Visit the National Broadband Map to get location-level internet service information made available by the Federal Communications Commission.

Using the Map

Use the map to view a summary of internet service for a specific address (serviceability, technology, speed, providers, etc). If you feel there are issues that need to be addressed, you can formally challenge the location or the availability using the links on the summary.
